Madam, - Your Western readers should please note that when a government tries to subsidise a regional airport, such as Shannon, this has knock-on effects.
The compulsory stop-over at Shannon is ridiculous. I live in California and I will pay extra money to an airline for a direct flight to Dublin. I could buy a much cheaper flight if I fly via London.
If I'm forced to stop in Shannon for two hours (which has happened to me on two occasions with different airlines) I shall prefer to travel via London. I travel with small children and don't wish to be locked up in "Guantanamoshannon" again. - Yours, etc.,
NEAL ROCHE, Westlake Village, California, USA.
