Madam, - Paul Kennan (July 4th) complains about the stream of "doom-and-gloom" predictions on the airwaves. Would he prefer to hear again the deluded ramblings of some of the "leading economists" from our banks, who continued to forecast interest rate cuts from the ECB in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary?
He can hardly have missed them in recent months as they received plenty of airtime on RTÉ. However, they do seem to have been keeping their heads below the parapet in the past few days. Perhaps they are too busy wrestling with their consciences. - Yours, etc,
