Sir, – Is this a new euphemism? Brian Hayes advocates a return to "variable pay" for bank staff ("Irish retail banks subject to most restrictive variable pay conditions in EU", Business Opinion, December 23rd).
I think he means restoration of the bonus culture for senior executives. – Yours, etc,
