Madam, - What a magnificent photograph by photographer Kate Geraghty on the front of last Friday's edition! The picture of the three Contepomi brothers - Felipe flanked by Francis and Fr John Paul and Francis on the steps of the National Concert Hall after attending Felipe's conferral of degrees from the Royal College of Surgeons - is a collector's item, not only for the Contepomi family but for the Irish Christian Brothers in Buenos Aires.
All three Contepomi brothers are past pupils of the magnificent Cardinal Newman College, 23 kilometres north of Buenos Aires, where rugby is played on the school's three pitches by many of its 1,100 pupils. The work of Brothers Doherty, Foley, Hayes, Ó Briain, O'Donnell and Wall - and of their predecessors in the Irish Christian Brothers in Argentina since 1948 - has become better known thanks to the talents of the Contepomi brothers. - Yours, etc,
