Sir,– In the changeover to decimal currency 50 years ago, two old pence could be exchanged for a new penny. At that time a marshmallow chocolate egg could be purchased for three pence and for one new penny after changeover. I can well remember primary schoolchildren changing two pence for one new penny in one shop and buying a chocolate egg for a new penny in another. – Yours, etc,
