Madam, - I watched Ireland's magnificent Triple Crown victory against England last Saturday on a high stool in a bar.
Ireland's anthem, Ireland's Call, was heartily supported, then as the English anthem began the sound on the television was suddenly muted and remained that way until the anthem was over.
Does this happen elsewhere in Ireland?
I am saddened that despite our new-found prosperity and confidence as a nation we have not the political maturity to respect another country's anthem. - Yours, etc,
