Sir, – In his interesting article "The way we were" (August 2nd), Conor Pope lists 20 things that our children would not now recognise.
Most of the items have been replaced by technological updates. However, some things when gone can never be replaced. How many of our children have ever known the joy of holding on the palm of their hand a wonderful little grasshopper and watched it spring, many times its own height, through the air into the cover of the grass?
Are there any Jiminy Crickets still around?
