Sir, – As an occasional visitor I have noticed the wholly inadequate signposting of motorways. Taking Ennis as an example, there is no indication whatsoever in the town centre (or the suburbs) that there is a motorway within a few kilometres or how to arrive at it. This is also my experience in other recently bypassed towns in Ireland.
The contrast with the UK is stark. It is a pleasure to drive in UK towns as the blue background signage for motorways is always visible.
I understand that county councils have no say in national roads signage and only the salaried staff of the NRA decide such matters. – Yours, etc,
J G CLARKE,
