Madam, - As building land becomes scarcer in the greater Dublin area and property speculators drool over the remaining green spaces, perhaps we should examine what we take for granted.
Massive shopping centres have been developed in the city centre and suburban areas. A notable feature of most of these centres is that they have few windows - presumably because shoppers are not concerned about daylight or a view.
So why are such centres erected overground? Isn't it possible to develop underground shopping centres and car-parks and save space above ground for homes, where daylight and views are essential? - Yours, etc,
MARK DUGGAN, Templeogue, Dublin 6W.
