Sir, – I never thought that I would ever support the idea of the installation of water meters, but when I hear reports of substantial numbers of selfish people running their taps all night, I am now having second thoughts. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – The mindless, selfish people who have left their water taps running during the cold weather wouldn’t have done so if there was water charging in place, just as in every other developed country. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Shame on those who left taps running during the bad weather. Maybe if water was being metered, they might have been of a different mindset. – Yours, etc,

A chara, – Once we were informed by Irish Water that there would be a restricted flow of water from 7pm to 7am, we tried our best to conserve the water in our home. At 8am, I gleefully headed towards our mains water tap to fill our kettle. As I edged closer to the tap my optimism of seeing beautiful flowing cold water turned to anxious worry. Then as my hand touched the tap, my worry quickly turned to dread, then fear, then panic.
As I slowly turned on the tap, surprise surprise, no water! – Is mise,
