Sir, – Well said Una Mullally! (Opinion, September 14th). I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiments expressed.
On the one hand the Government announces its target of reducing carbon emissions (albeit by a paltry 51 per cent by 2030) and beginning the journey towards net zero by 2050 while on the other hand it welcomes Amazon with open arms. Never mind the dismal treatment of workers, the huge amount of waste and the obscene number of items destroyed every week. Once we get a few jobs out of it sure isn’t it grand. Small, short-term gains for long-term catastrophe. And we have the Green Party in Government! It’s disgusting. – Yours, etc,
