Aisling Dempsey, the daughter of veteran Fianna Fáil minister Noel Dempsey, won the third and final seat in Meath West with 17 per cent of first preference votes.
Ms Dempsey works for construction company Glenveagh Homes and was first elected to Meath County Council for Fianna Fáil in 2019. She won re-election in 2024.
She was nominated by the party without a vote to run for the Dáil after Fianna Fáil Senator Shane Cassels said he would not be contesting the election.
Speaking to the Meath Chronicle at the time, she said her focus will be on “housing, childcare and tackling the impacts of inflation.”
She lives in Trim and is married with two children, a boy and girl. She becomes the first woman to represent the constituency of Meath West.
