Duncan Smith has been re-elected as a TD for the new constituency of Fingal East.

Aged 41, he served as Labour Party whip and spokesman on health, disability, transport and communications in the last Dáil.

Mr Smith has been involved with the Labour Party in north Dublin for many years. He was elected to Fingal County Council in June 2014 and re-elected in 2019.

He served as parliamentary assistant to the former Labour TD for the Fingal constituency Brendan Ryan.

He was director of elections for the party in Fingal in the general elections in 2011 and 2016.

Born and raised in Finglas in Dublin, he moved to Swords in Fingal in 2008. He is married with two children.

He is a keen fisherman and a big supporter of Shamrock Rovers and Liverpool FC.
