Elected Tds 2024
Robert Troy

Robert Troy (42) is married to Aideen, and they have a young daughter. He worked in banking and financial institutions before returning to Ballynacarrigy to take over the family post office in 2003 and run his own business.

Troy first entered politics in 2004, when he was elected to Westmeath County Council – where he served for seven years.

The Fianna Fáil TD has represented the people of Longford-Westmeath for 13 years since his election to the Dáil on his first attempt in 2011, retaining his seat in the 2016 and 2020 general elections.

In 2022 he resigned as a minister of State in the Department of Enterprise with responsibility for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation, stating that a “number of errors” made by him in the declaration of his property interests had “directly or indirectly” led him to decide to step down.
