Women KickSTART is a 15-week programme being rolled out by Technology Ireland, the tech business representative organisation, and Software Skillnet. Backed by Dell Technologies, it provides training, mentoring and work experience for women who want to but have not worked in the tech sector.

The programme is aimed at women who want a career opportunity in the growing IT sector, say Dell. It is designed to fast-track high-potential jobseekers for new and exciting work in the sector.

It’s a free programme that is run in partnership with Technology Ireland’s member companies. It is open to women from all backgrounds who can work in a customer service role, solve problems, provide excellent service and work collaboratively with others, it says.

Its focus is to enhance these core skills and professional abilities, as well as to provide detailed technology training to expand participants’ opportunities in companies that provide a range of technology products and services.

The programme is open to jobseekers and graduates of any background who have a passion for technology and love solving problems in a team environment. Over a period of 15 weeks, the KickSTART programme will help participants to develop confidence and skills to take up technical support roles as well as acquire new skills and qualifications in industry-leading technology.

It is a route to gain internationally recognised certification, benefit from real life-work experience in a leading company and emerge ready for a career in the IT sector.

Dell Technologies partnered with Technology Ireland on the initiative and hosted the inaugural group hosted at its Cherrywood site last month.
