LPGA US OPEN: Jane Park , an amateur from California, set the early pace in the US Women's Open Championship at the Newport Country Club in Newport, Rhode Island yesterday.

Park fired a two-under-par 69 before being joined at the top of the leaderboard by Si Ri Pak and Pat Hurst. The trio were one ahead of Michelle Wie, Wales star Becky Morgan and the Japanese pair of Sung Ah Yim and Gloria Park.

SENIORS TOUR: Sam Torrance is perfectly placed to retain the Bendinat London Seniors Masters title after a second-round 66, six under par, moved the Scotsman three strokes clear going into today's final round at The London Golf Club.

Torrance is eight under par for his two rounds, three clear of Delroy Cambridge of Jamaica and South African Bertus Smit, who carded rounds of 72 and 67 respectively to move onto five under par 139.

CHALLENGE TOUR: England's Lee S James, and the Spanish duo of Augustin Domingo and Juan Parron, stole a march on the thunderstorms that wreaked havoc upon the second round of the Madrid Open to occupy the top three spots on the leaderboard at the Club de Golf La Herreria.

James posted a second round of six-under-par 65 to move to 11-under-par 131 and take a one stroke lead from Domingo and Parron. Justin Kehoe is six shots back after a second round 66.

CHAMPIONS TOUR: David Edwards shot a nine-under-par 63 to open a four shots lead in the Greater Kansas City Golf Classic at the Nicklaus GC at LionsGate. Des Smyth was in a share of second place after a first nine of five-under 31.
