The luckless Adrian Maguire last night suffered yet another injury setback when he broke his left collar bone after a fall from Better Offer in the Royal Ascot Cricket Club Novices' Hurdle. The injury is similar to the one Maguire sustained at last month's Cheltenham Festival which ruled him out of racing for just under four weeks.

Maguire, who earlier had been successful on board the David Nicholson-trained Storm Alert, had Better Offer well placed when the partnership came to grief at the third last in the race won by Supreme Charm.

This latest injury came when it looked as though Maguire's luck was changing for the better. Only 11 days ago he partnered the Nicholson-trained Baronet to success in the Stakis Casinos Scottish Grand National at Ayr.
