International Rules News: International Rules manager Seán Boylan will finalise a reduced Irish panel early next week before a trip to France for training on October 13th. Ireland play Australia at Pearse Stadium, Galway, on October 28th under floodlights before returning to Croke Park the following Sunday for the second Test.

Australian Rules players Tadhg Kennelly (Sydney Swans) and Laois native Colm Begley (Brisbane Lions) are expected to be included in the panel. Carlton's Cork imports Aisake and Setanta Ó hAilpín played no role in the recent trials. Other players vying for selection are Kieran McGeeney, Shane Ryan, Ciarán McDonald and Ger Brady.

Meanwhile, the expected announcement yesterday by an Bord Pleanála on the construction of floodlights in Croke Park has been delayed. No new date was given. The planning authority are reviewing two separate objections from residents' associations.
