Good Counsel 2-8 Athlone CC 1-7:HOLDERS Athlone Community crashed out of the competition at Timahoe yesterday. They posted four early points and were looking comfortable but Good Counsel's Declan Murphy goaled after 18 minutes. Points followed from Matthew Hanlon and at the interval the teams were level, 1-3 to 0-6.

Good Counsel hit three unanswered points and appeared to be pulling away when a great Athlone move concluded with substitute Jaden Nicell crashing home the equaliser. Good Counsel regained the lead with a point from Lorcan French and despite fierce Athlone pressure held out. With eight minutes remaining a long delivery by Shane Bradley bounced into the net for the killer blow.
