Wicklow 1-10 Derry 1-15: Derry came out of the traps in Aughrim at speed and had the home side on the rack from the start. Dynamic full forward Paddy Bradley scored the early goal that had the home side reeling.

Derry, who were clearly on top at midfield, where Patsy Bradley was controlling the trend of the game, were 1-4 ahead before Trevor Doyle opened Wicklow's account in the 10th minutes with a point after good work by Brendan Ó hAnnaidh.

Bradley's goal was a gem: in a searing 60-yard solo run he left marker Stephen Cush for dead and skirted a number of other defenders before blasting an unstoppable shot past goalkeeper Robert Hollingsworth.

Derry went 1-9 to 0-3 ahead before Hugh Kenny rang the changes for Wicklow. Ciarán Clancy was drafted into midfield, Paddy Dalton introduced to attack and Gary Doran switched to centre back for the replaced Dara Ó hAnnaidh.
