Bray Wanderers 4 Galway Utd 0:BRAY ENDED their slump to ensure no let up in Galway's as Pat Devlin's side recorded their biggest win of the season at the Carlisle Grounds.
After losing six of their previous seven games, Bray returned to form to inflict a 20th straight league defeat on hapless Galway who played with 10 men for virtually the entire match after centre back Laurence Gaughan was shown a straight red by referee Anthony Buttimer after two minutes for a two-footed challenge on Bray right back Shane O’Connor.
Ten minutes later Galway were a goal down as Chris Shields released Dean Zambra down the right and although goalkeeper Conor Wynn got a hand to the low cross, he merely succeeded in palming it into the path of Jake Kelly, who shot home.
The home side didn’t score their second until the 56th minute when Jake Kelly collected a throw on the left to whip over a superb cross for Danny O’Connor to power his header past Wynn.
Shane O’Neill rifled home a stunning third goal on 68 minutes before defender Derek Prendergast made it 4-0 on 85 minutes with a header from Zambra’s cross.
