Bray Wanderers - 0 Longford Town - 2: Bottom-of-the-table Bray Wanderers slumped to a record ninth Premier Division defeat in a row as goals in each half from Alan Kirby and David Mooney gave Longford Town a facile victory at the Carlisle Grounds last night.

Longford had the perfect start when winger Kirby scored from 14 yards after three minutes following a clever build-up between Gary Cronin, David Freeman and Mooney.

Bray should have levelled on 20 minutes when a flick by Kieran O'Brien set up Andrei Georgescu but the Romanian cut in from the left and shot narrowly wide.

Longford had another let-off four minutes later when Paul Caffrey's half-volley rebounded off the crossbar to safety. Longford should have extended their lead after a long ball by Damien Brennan carved open the home defence. Bray goalkeeper Gray Rogers blocked Mooney's shot with his feet for a corner.

David Tyrell shot just wide for Bray on 47 minutes after a neat exchange between Georgescu and O'Brien. And then O'Brien was narrowly off target after Caffrey had created the opening.

Mooney made up for his earlier miss when scoring Longford's second goal from 14 yards following Seán Prunty's low cross.
