Castleblayney could afford the luxury of not scoring in the final 22 minutes and still win comfortably. They led at half-time by 1-9 to 1-4 and within 10 minutes of the restart had extended that lead to 10 points with a second goal by Ciarán Hanratty in the 10th minute. Castleblayney did not score again but Inniskeen only managed to pull back five points
Meanwhile, a fortuitous goal in injury-time saw Clontibret snatch a late victory over Latton.
Latton landed a goal in the opening minute as Clontibret struggled to get a foothold and it wasn't until the 13th minute of the second half that they drew level. Latton led at half-time by 1-2 to 0-3 but did not score from the 13th minute of the first half until the 20th minute of the second.
