Wexford manager John Conran has brought Paul Codd into the team ahead of Sunday's All-Ireland semi-final clash with Cork. Barry Lambert makes way, but his fitness was a major concern anyway as he hasn't trained since picking up an ankle injury during the Leinster final last month.
Codd comes in at left-wing forward, but it may not be the only change Conran is forced to make in the half forward line. Both Eoin Quigley (hamstring) and Paul Carley (ankle) will have to undergo fitness tests before Sunday's match. The latter picked up his injury playing football for his club Glynn-Bartown and will struggle to recover in time.
Cork named their team last Tuesday and their only change is at right-half back with Cian O'Connor making his championship debut. Ironically, he will be marking the only other new man, Codd.
Wexford go into the match without a competitive contest for six weeks, while Cork displayed a ruthless streak in dispatching Antrim in the quarter-finals by a 22-point margin.
The two sides met last year at this stage in a role reversal of Sunday, as Cork were reigning Munster champions, while Wexford were defeated in the Leinster final. They were level at full-time in what proved to be the most memorable game of the summer. Cork won the replay.
Meanwhile, Seán Marty Lockhart is the only change to Mickey Moran's Derry side ahead of tomorrow's quarter-final clash with Westmeath in Croke Park. The corner back has been absent for most of Derry's qualifiers run after picking up a leg infection earlier in the summer.
The manager opted against starting his most experienced player against Wexford and Limerick, but he did play a role from the bench against the former. Moran stated this week that the former All Star was fit for the last two matches, but not selected due to loyalty to those who had performed so well in victories over Cavan, Wexford and Limerick. Gerard O'Kane drops to the bench - the Glenullin player injured his ankle recently and was ill earlier in the campaign.
As expected, Lockhart takes over the captaincy from Paddy Bradley who, significantly, has been passed fit to start at corner forward despite an ankle complaint. James Donaghy has also recovered from a rib injury and will start at wing forward.
Páidí Ó Sé has also stuck with a winning line-up by naming the same team that brought the Leinster title back to Westmeath for the first time. It also seems that Martin Flanagan will not be returning to the panel despite twice lining out for his club recently. Flanagan has just recovered from an ankle operation.
