Cork captured the Senior B All-Ireland championship title following a 2-9 to 1-7 victory over Galway in the Jack McGrath Cup in the Gaelic Grounds, Limerick on Saturday.

In a close-fought game, Cork got off to a great start with an early Miriam Deasy goal and led 1-5 to 1-3 at the interval.

Galway got off to a better start in the second half with two Susan Keane frees in three minutes with Emma Kilkelly adding a point in between.

However, the turning point of the game came 18 minutes into the half. A long ball came in to the Galway goalkeeper Susan Earner, but all she could do was to knock it down and Cork forward Emer Watson pounced to make it goal number two for the winners.

Galway were given a lifeline with a minute remaining when they were awarded a penalty. Earner raced down the field to take it but, fortunately for Cork, her shot blazed over the bar. With that, the final whistle went.

Meanwhile, Armagh claimed the inaugural All-Ireland Junior Championship Shield final when they beat Laois 0-7 to 0-1 at the O'Rahilly's GAA ground in Drogheda.
