Cork IT 1-10 Tralee 1-7:Sigerson Cup: Cork IT had to battle hard to advance to the second round in Cork yesterday. Tralee IT played with a strong wind in the first half but could manage only a 0-4 to 0-2 interval lead.
Cork IT's main threat came from a Kerryman. Full forward Bryan Murphy was a constant threat, finishing with 1-5, including three points in quick succession which edged his side in front by 0-8 to 0-5 after 48 minutes.
Cork hurler John Gardiner set up Murphy for a goal but, two minutes into injury-time, Fergus McAuliffe scrambled home a Tralee goal. However, substitute Donncha O'Connor calmed Cork nerves with a fine point.
