Cork IT 1-15 DCU 0-14 (AET – 1-8 to 0-11 after normal time):A STORMING start to the first period of extra-time helped Cork IT reach the semi-finals of the Sigerson Cup, which they are hosting at the end of next week, following a bruising victory over DCU yesterday.
They scored four points without response to lead 1-12 to 0-13 entering the second period of additional time and Daniel Goulding closed out the deal with an injury-time point.
A 37th-minute Colm O’Neill goal seemed to set Cork IT up for victory, but Martin McElroy equalised near the end of normal time (1-8 to 0-11), followed shortly by a mass brawl involving players and substitutes from both teams.
Calm was eventually restored and extra-time began with Goulding and O’Neill firing over some brilliant points.
