Munster Under-21 Football Championship/ Cork 4-14 Waterford 1-6: Cork completed a hat-trick of Cadbury's Munster Under-21 Football Championship titles with their 19th success in all at Páirc Uí Rinn last evening.

They dominated a one-sided decider in front of 1,000 spectators to move into an All-Ireland semi-final against Laois.

Cork's senior players, centre-back Michael Shields, and forwards Fintan Gould and Daniel Goulding stood out, Goulding's accurate finishing adorning many attacks.

Waterford began brightly, but kicked two bad wides before Cork opened them up with some breathtaking combination play.

They had five points on the board when Waterford captain Mark Fives kicked his side's opening score from a free after 13 minutes. Cork's superiority was reflected in the build-up to Paul Kerrigan's goal a couple of minutes later, Patrick Kelly, Kerrigan and Gould exchanging passes for Kerrigan to finish in style.

The butt of an upright denied Gould a second goal within minutes. But an excellent Roy Leahy point and Goulding's fourth increased Cork's lead to 1-7 to 0-1 before Seán Fleming landed Waterford's second score.

But, Cork piled on the scores in the closing five minutes, Goulding, Gould and Paul O'Flynn finding the target, and led 1-10 to 0-2 at the interval after playing with the wind.

Waterford made four changes at the break and threatened a comeback when Liam Lawlor and Fleming created the opportunity for Patrick Hurney to goal after 37 minutes. Cork's response was swift, Leahy and Goulding slamming in goals in quick succession for a 3-13 to 1-3 lead.

Centre forward Brian Cotter ensured all Cork's forwards got on the scoreboard with a cheeky 44th-minute goal, lobbing goalkeeper Patrick Walsh to add to Waterford's woes.
