DCU 0-15 DIT 3-4:Sigerson Cup/First round: The Dublin selectors may have seen enough as they made their way out of the Coláiste Mhuire grounds yesterday. Those who stayed witnessed a spirited DIT comeback that threatened to turn this Sigerson Cup first-round tie on its head.

DIT ended the game as they began in a fine scoring vein with Mayo attacker Damien Munnelly almost having the final word. The corner forward had earned DIT a 1-1 to 0-0 lead following a 12th-minute penalty after Ken Donnelly had been fouled inside the penalty area.

DCU, though, soon got into their stride as Dublin wing forward Bryan Cullen and John Tierney helped give Niall Moyna's side a 0-9 to 1-0 lead at the break.

The rain relented after the break but not the DCU scores, with Seán Johnstone finding the target with big points. And so DCU, leading 0-13 to 1-1, looked to have the game wrapped up.

DIT midfielder Tommy Walsh, however, livened proceedings with a goal and although Johnstone responded with his fourth pointed effort at the other end, Munnelly then produced a fine piece of footwork before finding the net.

Munnelly then had the chance with a free from the left and although his kick dropped short, DIT retained possession. The DCU defence, however, made two excellent blocks to keep DIT at bay and in the dying seconds, Cullen landed the insurance point with a fine kick from the right.
