Donegal 0-12 Cavan 0-6: Donegal were relatively easy winners in the Ulster minor championship in Enniskillen on Saturday against a side that many would have considered favourites before the throw-in.
Having disposed of All-Ireland champions Down in the previous round, Cavan were the victims of a written-off Donegal outfit that kept their all-action game going right to the final whistle.
Indeed, it was the determined second-half performance that really ensured the reward of a semi-final place for the team from the north-west.
Cavan opened the scoring but Donegal quickly got into their stride and by half-time they had a 0-5 to 0-3 lead after scoring five unanswered points in a row.
Cavan were guilty of 10 wides in that opening half and in the second half their shooting was again wayward as centre forward Michael Murphy curbed the influence of Cavan play-maker Ray Cullivan.
Murphy, along with centre back Leo McLoone, were the Donegal stars but it was a good all-round display from the side which ensured deserved victory.
The eventual losers did manage to close the gap to just a solitary point during the second half.
But the final quarter belonged to Donegal and with Murphy and full forward Dara Gallagher in fine scoring form, there was no stopping the boys in green and gold.
