MOTOR SPORT:Eugene Donnelly aims to win the Jim Clark International Rally; challenge Mark Higgins for the Global International Tarmac Rally Championship and retain the title he has won for three years in a row. Donnelly on 24 points is 14 points down on Higgins and is the number one seed in round four of the series, followed by fellow Irish drivers Eamonn Boland and Tim McNulty.

The Tesco 99 Octane British Championship leaders Guy Wilks (20 points) and Higgins (18 points) are seeded number five and six, respectively in Group N cars. Although Higgins on 38 points leads the tarmac series, this time he has chosen to run in Group N for British points and therefore will not be on the pace of the more powerful WRC cars which are not eligible for the British Championship.

Advantage Donnelly, but Higgins will not be too far behind and reliability will as usual be a big factor.

The rally starts this evening from south of Edinburgh, run out of Kelso located on the confluence of the Tweed and Teviot Rivers.
