Dublin had a good workout in preparation for the Leinster championship when they simply overwhelmed a disappointing Cavan 4-16 to 0-7 in a challenge game at Bawnboy yesterday.

Dublin were well in control by half-time when they led by 2-9 to 0-4, Conal Keaney and Alan Brogan the goalscorers in the 15th and 37th minutes. Second-half goals from Brogan and Jason Sherlock put the game out of Cavan's reach.

Despite three Mayo goals in a blistering five-minute spell Sligo held out for a 2-16 to 3-11 win at Markievicz Park. Brian Malone, Pat Kelly and Austin O'Malley banged in goals to wipe out a 10-point Sligo lead.

Wicklow's footballers, who face Kildare in the opening round of the Leinster championship in less than two weeks, won their third trophy in eight days yesterday when they beat Waterford 1-17 to 1-6 at Tinahely.

The Limerick hurling management have patched up their differences with forward Pat Tobin who has rejoined the squad.
