Dublin Colleges 0-7 Castlecomer 1-3As the scoreline suggests, scores were hard to come by in this mediocre SHC A quarter-final at bitterly cold Dr Cullen Park, Carlow, yesterday. Over the hour both sides could only manage 11 scores, the only goal coming in the 59th minute.

That Castlecomer goal came from full forward Martin Boran after a mighty clearance from full back Colin Phillips.

But Dublin Colleges deservedly held on for victory and a crack at Leinster and All-Ireland champions St Kieran's of Kilkenny.

The hurling was substandard all through and Dublin Colleges will need to show vast improvement if they are to prove a match for St Kieran's.
