Two goal-line clearances and a couple of fine saves from Steve Williams helped Dundalk secure a point from their visit to rain-soaked Ballybofey on Saturday night. Finn Harps, who had lost their previous two league games, made all the running in the first half, but were unable to penetrate a well-marshalled Dundalk defence.
Williams did well to deny Declan Boyle with a good save with his feet in the 10th minute. James Mulligan also came close on two occasions, but Harps were unable to find the net.
They continued their pressure in the second half and came close again twice in the 75th minute. Williams made a brilliant save to tip Eamonn Kavanagh's shot over the bar and from the resulting corner, Mick Doohan hacked McGettigan's effort off the line.
Dundalk's best chance came in the 80th minute when Tom McNulty's fierce drive flew inches wide of a Harps score.
It looked as if Harps would secure the win in the 87th minute when Keven McHugh shot past Williams, but his effort was cleared by Shane Reddish.
