Making a real name for himself and showing a real talent for the game at West Waterford is 16-year-old John Dunphy. At the weekend, this promising young prospect shot a four under par round gross for the second week running to win the club's weekly competition.

His score this week of 42 points - which was achieved off the back tees - ensured that his handicap was further reduced from two to one. His score beat 17 handicapper Chris Gough, into second place on 41 points. Gough who has been playing only a short time, has already, like Dunphy, shown a lot of potential.
