Cricket: England opening batsman Marcus Trescothick has been ruled out of the entire Ashes series after suffering a recurrence of his stress-related illness.

The 31-year-old flew home from Australia yesterday, with the England team management confirming the Somerset batsman would not be returning.

Trescothick also returned home from the tour of India earlier this year, when it first emerged he was suffering from stress.

It is a massive blow to England's bid to retain the urn they won for the first time in 18 years last summer.
