The replay of last Sunday's absorbing ESB All-Ireland minor football final will take place on Saturday (3pm) in Cusack Park, Ennis. This is a fair decision considering both teams will have a relatively similar 80-mile trek to the 24,000 capacity stadium.

Kerry are sweating on the availability of captain Paddy Curran after the full forward suffered a suspected fractured jaw in a collision near the end.

Curran scored eight points, six from play, in a fine display and seemed to have posted the winning score on the hour mark until David O'Gara equalised two minutes into injury-time.

"He got a bad bang on the side of the face but we are hopeful that tonight's X-ray in Tralee will not show a fracture," said Kerry manager John Kennedy. "We'd be fairly hopeful he would be able to play next Saturday. He was checked by the doctors after the game and stayed with us for the meal."

Curran was awarded the RTÉ Man-of-the-Match award and even struggled through an awkward television interview just moments after the game.

Meanwhile, the Galway hurling committee have cancelled tonight's meeting as they await a response from Ger Loughnane on the offer to become the next county hurling manager.

"I last spoke to Ger on Saturday to inform him the other candidates had withdrawn their names on Friday and he said he would reconsider his position," said hurling board secretary John Fahey. "We are expecting a decision some time this week."

Loughnane refused to run against Galway natives Seán Silke and Joe Cooney but such a scenario has now been avoided.

Fahey also confirmed the Clare man would be choosing his own management team.
