Division Two Round-up: Visitors Meath were outplayed by a Laois side who won by 4-17 to 2-5 at Portlaoise yesterday.
The home side were ahead before Tom Fitzgerald struck their first goal. Willie Hyland delivered goal number two.
Five minutes before half-time a free from Meath's Mickey Cole ended up in the net to leave the half-time score 2-10 to 1-3.
Meath were thrown a life-line when Eoin Brislane sent a shot to the roof of the Laois net.
The recovery was short-lived, however, as Fitzgerald added his second goal and when Hyland scored his second goal after 55 minutes the contest was effectively over.
Westmeath overwhelmed Mayo at Cusack Park, Mullingar, yesterday, winning by a 2-19 to 0-11 scoreline with Daniel McNicholas and Daniel Carty scoring the goals and Andrew Mitchell getting a 10-point haul.
Wicklow took a 20-point victory over Armagh in Arklow with Enan Glynn and Wayne O'Gorman notching two goals each and Seanie Furlong striking one for a comprehensive 5-13 to 0-8 win.
