ULSTER CLUB SH FINAL REPLAY: Cushendall made the most of their second chance as they beat Derry representatives Kevin Lynch's 1-15 to 1-7 in the Ulster senior hurling club final replay at Casement Park yesterday.

The Antrim champions led by 1-6 to 0-5 at half-time thanks to Kevin McNaughton's goal and although former Derry dual star Geoffrey McGonigle pulled a goal back for Kevin Lynch's after the break, it wasn't enough to prevent the glensmen from going on to claim the provincial crown in convincing fashion.

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL: Donaghmoyne of Monaghan ended Ballyboden St Enda's three-in-a-row dream yesterday when they defeated the Dublin side in the VHI Healthcare All-Ireland women's football club semi-final, 0-12 to 0-7.

It was also a case of sweet revenge for Donaghmoyne as they had lost to Ballyboden in last year's All-Ireland decider. They will now meet Carnacon in this year's All-Ireland final after the Mayo champions accounted for Cork's Donoughmore in the other semi-final, 2-11 to 0-8.

However, Donaghmoyne's triumph is the real talking point of the semi-finals and they were full value for their win yesterday.

They led Ballyboden, who had home advantage, 0-8 to 0-1 after just 15 minutes with Caitríona McConnell scoring five of their eight early points. Fiona Corcoran replied for Ballyboden, but Donaghmoyne still led 0-9 to 0-3 at the interval.

After the break Ballyboden scored four consecutive points - from Caroline Conway, Monahan (2) and Gemma Fay - to reduce the deficit to just two.

But Donaghmoyne finally ended their drought - which started in the 18th minute of the first half - in the 18th minute of the second half when Niamh Lynch scored a crucial point.

That score swung the momentum back in Donaghmoyne's favour and they won a penalty soon afterwards. McConnell missed the resulting spot-kick, but she made amends moments later when she curled over another point.

Amanda Casey added another towards the end to give the Monaghan side a deserved three-point win.
