Mayo are set to be without star forward Cillian O’Connor for their Allianz Football League campaign after the 2014 All Star underwent knee surgery.

The Mayo News report that O’Connor underwent the operation on Monday and that the timescale of recovery is between five and six months.

O’Connor won the GAA/GPA Golden Boot award, scoring 3-34 in their five championship outings before they were knocked out by eventual winners Dublin in the All-Ireland semi-finals.

In the two semi-finals, O’Connor scored a total of 2-15 of Mayo’s total of 2-29.
