Alan Mulholland has cited work and family commitments as the reason for not seeking another term as Galway football manager.

Despite a progressive three seasons in charge, the bookmaker was unable to land a Connacht title or replicate his All-Ireland success at minor (2007) and under-21 (2011). The Tribesmen did reach this summer’s All-Ireland quarter-final only to be beaten by Kerry.

"Alan Mulholland has made a dual contribution to Galway Football, both on and off the field," said Noel Treacy, the county board chairman.

“After a distinguished playing career, he has given selflessly of himself for the past decade to the cause of Galway football. We sincerely thank Alan, his wife Mary and the entire Mulholland family for their great contribution to Galway football over the years and we look forward to their continuing involvement in the future.”
