The Sligo senior football panel has expressed their "full confidence" in manager Kevin Walsh after the county's surprise loss to London in the Connacht SFC tie on Sunday.

Walsh came under considerable criticism after the defeat at Ruislip on Sunday, with former player Eamonn O’Hara on RTÉ’s Sunday Game programme calling on the Sligo boss to step down from his position.

The Sligo County Board gave their backing to Walsh in the aftermath of the London defeat and the players last night released a brief statement supporting their manager.

It read: “In light of recent comments in the national media, players want to publicly assert their full confidence in Kevin Walsh and his Management Team going forward.”
