Tipperary 3-18 Offaly 1-10
Eamon O'Shea's Tipperary enjoyed a comfortable victory over Offaly in yesterday's senior intercounty hurling challenge in Moneygall.
Conor Kenny and David Collins scored first-half goals as the Premier County opened up a 2-9 to 0-6 half-time lead.
Offaly struggled to make an impact at the other end, with Joe Bergin hitting all six of their first half points from placed balls.
Peter Geraghty finally registered Offaly’s first point from play in the 44th minute before Tomas Geraghty cracked home a 48th minute goal.
Offaly trailed by six points at that stage, 1-7 to 2-10, but Tipperary upped a gear to run out 14-point winners.
Former Kildare player Kenny and John ‘Bubbles’ O’Dwyer caught the eye for Tipperary in attack as the pair registered 1-5 each.
Tipperary begin their competitive season next Sunday against Limerick IT in the Waterford Crystal Cup and new Offaly manager Brian Whelahan will hope to get off to a winning start against Antrim in the Walsh Cup.
