Clare have drawn Cork in round two of the All-Ireland hurling qualifiers. The draw, which was broadcast live on RTÉ's 'Morning Ireland,' also pairs 2017 All-Ireland finalists Waterford and Galway.
The two qualifiers will be staged separately on Saturday, in Thurles and Limerick.
Waterford play Galway at 2pm in Thurles while Cork will face Clare at the LIT Gaelic Grounds in Limerick, at 4.30pm. Both matches will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
The choice of separate venues is for capacity reasons, as double bills of senior matches are generally only considered for Croke Park.
Conducting the draw, GAA president Larry McCarthy also confirmed that a request had been received for the use of Croke Park for the Ulster football final on the August bank holiday weekend.
The Connacht final takes place this weekend in order to avail of the higher capacity.
“There’s a request in from the Ulster Council to play the Ulster football final in Croke Park,” said the president, “and that will be dealt with in the next day or two so there’ll be news on that at that stage.”
He was also asked in light of the Covid outbreak among the Dublin hurlers whether the GAA was resigned to further cases in intercounty panels.
“God, I hope not. It just means that we need to be extremely cautious and extremely careful and adhere to all the Covid regulations that we have in place to make sure that all the county players and farther on into the season the club players as well are able to play their games safely.”
