Munster GAA has announced that both of its provincial football semi-finals on Saturday have been designated as test events and will be allowed attendances of 3,500 each.

Tickets for the matches, Limerick v Cork in the LIT Gaelic Grounds at 3pm, and the meeting of champions Tipperary and Kerry in Thurles at 7pm, will be distributed by the respective county boards on Wednesday morning with any returns going on public sale this Friday at 11am.

The news is in keeping with the desire of both Government and sports bodies to raise the numbers attending sports fixtures, as the test events pass by without incident. Last weekend the Limerick-Cork hurling match in Thurles was attended by 2,400 and a day later Tipperary-Clare in Limerick had a crowd of 3,500.

Both Munster and Leinster Councils will be hoping that the trend will continue as the provincial hurling finals are taking place the weekend after next in Páirc Uí Chaoimh and Croke Park, respectively.
