Fitzgibbon Cup quarter finals / UCD 1-15 Garda College Templemore 0-13: UCD powered past Garda College in the last quarter at Templemore yesterday to claim their place in the Fitzgibbon Cup semi-finals.
Garda were the better side early on but a goal after 11 minutes by Redmond Barry kept the students in touch.
With Cork's Gerry O'Connor and Clare's Tony Carmody prominent, Garda forged an interval lead of 0-11 to 1-5. When Carmody added two points within five minutes of resuming they looked on course for an easy win.
In the last quarter, however, the students, coached by Nicky English, took control - Michael Fitzgerald, Bryan Barry, Eamon Ryan, Brendan Murphy and Redmond Barry excelled - scoring 10 points without reply.
David Kenneally, Gerry O'Connor, Adrian Diviney, Carmody and Tony O'Connor were best for Garda.
