Skryne and Dunshaughlin will meet in the Meath Senior Football Championship final after victories over Walterstown and Dunderry respectively at Navan over the weekend. A sparkling display by county star, Trevor Giles, paved the way for Skryne's 0-14 to 0-8 win over Walterstown while Dunshaughlin beat Dunderry 1-8 to 2-2.
Giles kicked seven of his sides points as they led 0-9 to 0-0 before Walterstown had their first score. Skryne led 0-9 to 0-2 at half-time and although Walterstown upped the pace in the second-half there was no denying Skryne their place in the final.
Tommy Dowd made a welcome return for hot favourites Dunderry in yesterday's second semi-final but to no avail as Dunshaughlin reached their first final. The Kealy brothers, Denis and Richie, played a major part in Dunshughlin's win. Denis, who was a tower of strength in defence, kicked two points while Richie added three more.
Dunshaughlin led 1-3 to 0-1 at half-time with their goal coming from Tiernan O'Rourke after 25 minutes.
A Brian Newman goal on 54 minutes gave Dunderry a glimmer of hope but Dunshaughlin were on their way to the final with points from Denis Kealy and David Moroney when Ger Brady netted a consolation goal for Dunderry, well into injury time.
