Grand run by Gamut

Racing: Gamut put a smile back on the face of Kieren Fallon when running away with the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud yesterday. The champion jockey had been most unhappy when Kalaman suffered severe traffic problems in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown yesterday.

But there were no such hard-luck stories here as the fast-improving Sir Michael Stoute-trained five-year-old powered to a most impressive victory, seizing the lead on the home turn after racing close to the pace set by Poussin. The son of Spectrum soon opened up a gap which, try as he might, Poussin's stablemate Policy Maker was not able to close, finishing three lengths adrift at the line.

Visorama came home well under Eric Legrix to take third with Short Pause in fourth.
