Ulster MFC First round/ Armagh 0-10 Monaghan 1-6: A pointed free by Stephen Harold a minute from the end of normal time saw 13-man Armagh advance to the semi-final in Clones yesterday.
Monaghan led by two points at the end of the first quarter but Armagh's five unanswered points between the 17th and 31st minutes saw them lead 0-7 to 0-4 at the break.
Within a minute of the restart Armagh extended their lead with a point from Colm Watters but Monaghan were right back into the game when six minutes later Martin McElroy crashed the ball to the net. A minute later and it was all up for grabs when Darren Bishop equalised. An exchange of points between Kyle Carragher and James Turley kept it tied up entering the final quarter.
There was to be only one further score in this game which took something of a controversial turn in the final quarter with three players dismissed, two from Armagh, Stefan Forker and Damien McKenna on straight red cards. Monaghan's Padraig Donaghy was dismissed on a second yellow card a minute from time and just after Harold had poached the late winner for Armagh with the point from a free.
