Waterford IT 0-15 University of Limerick 0-8: Holders WIT advanced to next week's semi-finals in Athlone with this impressive win over a highly rated UL at Ballygunner, Waterford, yesterday.

Fielding just four of last year's winning side, WIT never looked in danger and led 0-9 to 0-6 at the break having hit 10 wides to Limerick's three.

They continued to control the second half but again wasted chances, adding just three points, from Rory Jacob, in 25 minutes before two great points from Kilkenny's Brian Dowling put them seven up.

After flashing several yellow cards, David Kirwan sent off Limerick's Eoin Lynch in the last minute.
